LIFE GROUPS

I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance. – John 10:10

We refer to our WayLife Community meetings as life groups. The purpose of the life group is to draw everyone into a genuine relationship with Jesus where we experience the abundant life He practically offers us in our everyday circumstances. We expect to have regular encounters with the Holy Spirit as He ministers to us encouragement, direction, healing, and deliverance. Meetings are facilitated by a life group leader, last about two hours, and ideally consists of 8-12 people. Meetings will occasionally include a meal and observe the Lord's supper.

Life groups meet at various times, frequencies, and locations depending on how it's organized by the life group leader. While most may be hosted in homes, they could also meet in public spaces such as restaurants.
While life groups are intended to minister to whole families, special-interest life groups can be formed, such as for children’s, women’s, and men’s groups.

Life groups meetings are facilitated in such a way to develop and strengthen our four core values: community, mutual edification, discipleship, and multiplication. Equally important, we the Holy Spirit the opportunity to work without hindrance while providing a general structure to keep the meetings on track. Meetings generally consists of four basic parts we call the four W's:

  • Welcome – A time for greeting one another, introducing new people, and setting the atmosphere for connecting with each other and God.

  • Worship – Singing praise and worship, and prayer.

  • Word – Examining the word together. A time facilitated by the group leader, but openly discussed among the group. This time may lead into personal ministry as the Spirit reveals how the scripture is speaking to individuals in personal way.

  • Witness – A time dedicated to prayer for one another and unbelievers.

The goal of each meeting is for everyone to participate, to serve, and to be served. Mutual edification is a priority. It is intended to a place to discover and practice the gifts of the Holy Spirit in a loving and nurturing environment. When the church is functioning properly within the power of the Spirit and an unbeliever visits, “the secrets of his heart will be revealed, and as a result he will fall facedown and worship God, proclaiming, ‘God is really among you!’” (1 Corinthians 14:25).
